Security vendor Trustwave expands Canadian presence
due to increased cybersecurity threats
Citing a growth in cybersecurity challenges in this country,
Chicago-based "security-as-a-service" vendor
Trustwave has
opened a new office based in Waterloo.
According to new Trustwave Canada
country manager Michael Sims, the new Waterloo office feature will support
approximately 90 employees. There is a need for more security professionals in
this country, Sims told IT World Canada. While the security issues and
challenges are often the same across North America, Canadian organizations in
particular are facing specific pressure from cybersecurity threats,
vulnerabilities and resource constraints.
Within the last 24 months, with the number of security breaches
across North America and the world, more organizations are being proactive about
security, Sims said.

Dartmouth, NS: Store owner fined for falsifying
documents and undervaluing shipments
Kelly Wall, owner of Encore Decor, has to pay a fine of $30,000
and $77,000 in evaded duty and taxes. The case of a Dartmouth store owner who
pled guilty to falsifying documents and undervaluing imported shipments was one
of the most "significant" Blair MacDonald has encountered in his 32-year career
with Canada Border Services Agency.
The CBSA investigation determined that between May 2008 and July
2014, Wall undervalued 32 commercial shipments to her Dartmouth store, Encore
Decor Ltd. "I've not seen a commercial case where someone is only declaring
their shipments on the average of less than 20 per cent," MacDonald told Metro
on Wednesday. "This is the first time in my career I've ever seen anybody alter,
forge, a customs manifest." metronews.ca
