employee charged in $14,000 theft A man who
worked at the Publix supermarket in the Barrow County community of Bethlehem
is charged with stealing almost $14,000 from the store over the past seven
months. Brandon Lee Smith worked as the customer service manager, stole the
money in 52 different transactions in amounts never exceeding $400.

from the Reno-Tahoe area have been arrested for stealing 1,100 ski pass
vouchers from Heavenly Mountain Resort. The passes are valued at $120 a
piece with the total value somewhere around $116,520.

NC: Target shoplifter flees police, chase ends with one killed in a crash
Debbie Patterson died Saturday while riding
in a car that wrecked while being wildly driven by a man who police say they
were trying to stop because he was suspected of stealing $1,138 worth of
items from Target in Gastonia. Police said Patterson's role in the larceny
remains under investigation. Her daughter, Angela Short, said her
62-year-old mother remained in the car during the theft and was not part of
the heist of razor blades, teeth whiteners, and flea and tick medicine,
among other items reportedly taken. Kirkland has eight convictions in Gaston
and Lincoln counties since November 2000 on larceny or breaking and entering
charges. He faces a total of eight charges in this case, including
misdemeanor death by vehicle, reckless driving, larceny and fleeing to elude
arrest.

WA: Two suspects wanted for hundreds in Foot Care products from Walgreens
Two women were caught on camera at a Walgreens stealing $800 worth of
foot care products. Detectives think they're organized retail thieves who
sell the stolen stuff. They entered the store separately. Detectives say
they're so good at stealing it's tough to even see them do it, but they're
escape wasn't so smooth - setting off the sensor alarms at the front doors -
then darting to a car and driving away.

Two men stole from
Walmart to get gift card Two men face charges
after police say they conspired to steal items from Walmart in hopes of
returning them for a gift card. Joseph F. Thibeault was charged with
shoplifting and Arnold W. Carver was arraigned on a conspiracy charge. The
loss prevention officer said his assistant manager saw Thibeault place
$174.12 worth of merchandise into Walmart bags Carver supplied. Vitale
reports Thibeault told him Craver selected items and placed them in a
shopping cart, intending for Thibeault to return the items at the service
desk and get a gift card.

Lehigh Valley, PA:
Shoplifting scheme yields 29 packets of heroin
Justine S. Graci, 21, at noon Saturday entered the Wal-Mart in Lower
Nazareth Township and took a television off the shelf, police said. Graci
then allegedly brought the TV to the customer service desk and attempted to
return it for a store gift card. Police were familiar with Graci; he is
accused of performing the same scheme with an air conditioning unit on
Tuesday. Officers arrested Graci and searched him finding 29 packets of
heroin and a small bag of cocaine in his possession. He is charged with
theft, possession of a controlled substance, criminal attempt of theft and
possession of drug paraphernalia.
