$140K worth of Jewelry stolen from Kohl's store in Texas
A few North Texas department stores have become a target for jewelry thieves,
and the criminals keep coming back despite being caught on camera. The thieves
are hitting Kohl's department stores in the middle of the night. Store
surveillance video caught them throwing a rock through the door of a Lewisville
store, grabbing store bags and smashing jewelry counters. They took $140,000
worth watches, gold and necklaces and then rolled it out on a store wheelchair.
Kohl's stores in Dallas and Carrollton have also lost about $100,000 in similar
burglaries. There was also an attempted burglary in Irving.

On Wednesday at 11:30am, three suspected thieves grabbed more than a dozen
high-end Burberry purses and wallets, fleeing on foot with what police say
amounts to more than $8,500 dollars worth of merchandise.

New York City: Two accused in Middletown Sears $3,800 shoplifting spree
Two alleged shoplifters, apparently with good taste in kitchenware, face a raft
of charges, accused of trying to walk off with thousands of dollars' worth of
items from the Middletown Sears. Reports filed by Middletown police charge Jay
Hutler, 44, of Netcong, with taking Kitchen-Aid appliances out of the store
without paying on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, January 9, 10, and 11. Police
said that he filled carts with items totaling $2,559.84 this past Monday...one
day after allegedly taking $549.99 appliance, and two days after allegedly
leaving with items worth $744.98.

Orchard Park, NY: Investigation of three sharp-dressing shoplifters continuing
Orchard Park police said Thursday that they are continuing to investigate other
possible store thefts by three sharply dressed Dunkirk men arrested Tuesday
afternoon in the Kohls store parking lot with more than $2,500 in clothing and
electronic gear.

MI: Kohl's shoplifter sentenced to 1 yr for ORC;
Led Police on 100mph chase
47-year-old Marcus Lowell Hunter has been sentenced to one year in the
Livingston County jail and two years of probation. Hunter pleaded guilty as
charged last month to one count of organized retail crime, 1st degree retail
fraud and fleeing and eluding a police officer with a motor vehicle. In October,
police were called to a fraud complaint at the Kohl's in Genoa Township, Hunter
fled with the merchandise. Hunter took off, heading on I-96 and reached speeds
of 100 mph.

San Bernardino Co, CA: Three women are arrested on identity theft charges
Three women were arrested on identity theft charges on Jan. 11, according to the
San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. On Jan. 11 at about 3 a.m., Deputy
Kovensky of the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department contacted one of the suspects
in Rancho Cucamonga. During the contact, Kovensky learned Mullins was on felony
probation for fraud. While searching Mullins's purse, Kovensky located several
fraudulent credit cards. Kovensky questioned Mullins and found she was renting a
room at the Holiday Inn Express. Kovensky and several additional deputies
conducted a probation search on Mullins's hotel room. Baker and Ramirez were
located in Mullins' room; both were found to be on felony probation. A thorough
search of the room revealed additional fraudulent credit cards, stolen ID cards,
an embossing machine, credit card reader, stolen credit cards and laptop
computer.

Orlando, FL: 3 charged in suspected Disney ticket scheme
Undercover detectives with the Orange County Sheriff's Office have filed charges
against three people for reselling park hopper passes to Walt Disney World.
Investigators charged the 3 suspects with resale of multi-day or multi-event
tickets. According to investigators, the three were buying and then reselling
the tickets from a counter rented in a convenience store just a stone's throw
from the Disney entrance off of Highway 535. Deputies say the trio was buying
multi-day passes that still had days left on them, and then reselling them.
After the undercover deputies paid $260 cash, they were handed two passes and
told two names they were supposed to use. Investigators say they were given
specific instructions on what to do if they were approached by Disney security.
