Bank of Canada teams with Law Enforcement to target economic
crimes.
The Bank of Canada, in conjunction with
law enforcement agencies across the country, aims to be proactive with their
recently announced update to the successful anti-fraud program 'Fighting
Fraud on the Front Lines'. The updated program is targeted towards retailers
with new video modules available on DVD or online, will focus on recent
criminal activities. The previous 2008 campaign was watched by over 100,000
people.

Cross-border shopping a $20B economic drain on the Canadian
economy.
Canadians coming to shop in the USA this
summer may be the highest in the past 20 years. More than 50 million visits
to the U.S. by Canadian residents annually and those numbers are poised to
swell when Ottawa increases the duty-and-tax free limits on June 1. Next
month will see the duty-free limit on stays longer than 24 hours rise to
$200 from $50, while the limit on stays longer than 48 hours rises to $800,
from the current two-tiered levels of $400 and $750, depending on the length
