Staten Island's Michael Cusick looks to combat organized
shoplifting rings.
Speaking at a press conference
yesterday, the Staten Island lawmaker said he's
sponsoring a half-dozen bills to combat organized
shoplifting. "This is more than just shoplifting,"
Cusick said. "These are professional crews that go by
the name of 'boosting crews' in some places. They have a

Around 60 million euro has been stolen from bank
accounts in a massive cyber raid on 60 banks.
The stolen money was then sent to
so-called mule accounts in caches of a few hundreds and
100,000 euro at a time. "The fraudsters' objective in
these attacks is to siphon large amounts from high
balance accounts, hence the name chosen for this
research - Operation High Roller," said a joint report
by software security firm McAfee and Guardian Analytics.
