Loss Prevention Officers at Belks identify an ORC ring
that results in 5 arrests.
The LP officers have been working with
Law Enforcement in FL on a group of females stealing
designer clothing. At least five different incidents
have been captured on the video surveillance. On each
occasion the stolen clothing is valued in excess of
$300.00. During one of the incidents, LP attempted to
stop the women as they exited. They fled but LP
recovered over $1.2k of stolen clothing. They also
discovered that the large shopping bags contained an
aluminum lining which defeated the anti-theft sensors.
On June 18th detectives arrested five of the suspects. This
investigation is continuing and additional arrests are
likely.

8 people charged in a string of jewelry store robberies
in Canada. One suspect
still at large. During the robberies, the suspects
forcibly took over the targeted retail outlets by
brandishing machetes and hammers and, in one case,
dousing a clerk in flammable lighter fluid. Items stolen
from the Surrey pawn shops have not been recovered and
are believed to be worth more than $50k. Of that jewelry
is a distinctive Harley Davidson gold belt buckle worth
approximately $3k. (source
