USS Announces
Incremental IP Upgrades
for Cost Control
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif., (April 2, 2015) - To help businesses using
existing analog LP systems, USS has announced that it is intensifying its
efforts to bring them into the IP fold. To do this, USS unveiled a program that
allows incremental upgrades of extant analog systems to new IP technology. The
measured-conversion strategy will help businesses control costs and better
schedule around the upgrade process.
“With the scope of the benefits our IP solutions provide, most businesses think
the work and costs that go into a system conversion are daunting” noted Gerald
Becker, USS’ vice president of Physical Security, “but we can go in and replace
just some parts now and some at a later date, and still give them a system that
works seamlessly all throughout the process.”
Becker stated that this incremental migration process is made possible by IP’s
flexibility, and the system’s performance and capabilities dramatically increase
at each stage of the upgrade. “Any LP team with a limited budget but an eye
toward the future can start small by having the old coaxial cable runs replaced
with high-speed Cat5 cable using special converters,” Becker stated. “They’ll be
able to operate their old cameras on these new lines, and whenever they’re ready
to start switching out cameras and components for IP models, we can do so at
their pace.”
