USS
Unveils New EAS Strategy
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif., (March 26, 2015) - The next step in the
evolution of EAS has been announced by USS, the nation’s largest privately-held
LP company. Termed the
Blending Strategy, the new approach to tagging allows for a drastically
improved visual deterrence and a greater number of tags on a limited budget. In
one of the first tests at four high-shrink stores, the Blended Strategy achieved
a stunning 97 percent shrink reduction.
“Our Blending Tags are design to confuse the thief,” said Craig Cunningham, USS’
vice president of business development. “They all look like triple-alarm tags
with speakers, LED lights and an aggressive look. However, exactly what
technology is inside, we leave that up to the retailer to decide based on their
budget and needs. What we have seen so far is that this approach works, both in
reducing shrink and helping the LP teams stay within their budgets.”
In a
recent interview on LPNN, Cunningham further explained that the Blending
Tags have different price points depending on the alarm features. According to
him, a retailer is able to strategically target shrink with a custom blend of
tags for each store based on the store’s shrink level, all the while keeping the
overall EAS budget the same.
USS plans to showcase the new Blending Tags at the upcoming RILA and NRF
conferences. More information about this new strategy can be obtained at the
