Facewatch enters into the fight against organized retail crime in the US with
the National Anti-Organized Retail Crime Association
Facewatch
is delighted to announce that it has joined the
National
Anti-Organized Retail Crime Association (NAORCA) as a Business Affiliate
with the longer term objective to assist US retailers in their fight against
organized retail crime.
NAORCA is a growing association and dedicated to combating the global epidemic
of organized retail crime. Founded in September 2012 in Massachusetts by Founder
and Executive Director Christopher J. McGourty, the organisation is now working
with clients around the world.
Facewatch is a secure online crime reporting and networking platform that
enables businesses, public and police to tackle low-level crime by sharing
images within business groups and by submitting full digital evidence packages
to the police to help solve crimes. Founded in March 2010, the system now
contains over 18,000 images and more than 8,000 registered business premises.
Simon Gordon (Chairman, Facewatch) said: “We look forward to sharing our
experience of helping to make our communities in the UK both safer and more
secure with NAORCA and its members, and to explore ways in which the Facewatch
system can be put to best use in the US.”
Chris
J. McGourty (Executive Director, NAORCA) commented: “It is estimated that the
cost of organized retail crime in the US is between $30-40 billion. We welcome
Facewatch’s arrival as a Business Affiliate to our organisation and look forward
to working with Simon and his team in the US & UK to bring Facewatch to not only
our members but the retail sector in general.”
