Oshawa trio busted in stolen food scheme
Three people have been charged in what police say was a scheme to sell food and
other products stolen from a Whitby Walmart at an Oshawa convenience store.
Durham police were contacted about a theft at the Walmart store on Baldwin
Street South at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Cops learned a man had wheeled a cart
full of meat, bread, diapers and other goods out of the store while a female
accomplice distracted a greeter at the main entrance. Cops tracked the suspects’
van to the Smoke Rush convenience store on Midtown Drive in Oshawa. Items stolen
from the Walmart were already being offered for sale at the store, police said.
