female thief of designer purses in five cities busted in Rochester, N.Y. The
Rochester woman charged in a Milford designer purse theft and under
investigation for several others in Oakland County has been identified as a
suspect in a Washtenaw County case dating back almost two years. Laura Anne
Pochmara, 37, who is charged with receiving and concealing stolen property over
$1,000 and organized retail crime — as well as first-degree retail fraud — tied
to a recent theft of around $2,200 in Vera Bradley purses from the Nana’s Niche
and Corner store in Milford, could soon face charges as detectives have tied her
to a 2012 shoplifting case at a Saline boutique called Pineapple House. More
than $400 worth of items including five umbrellas, four handbags and a cosmetic
case were stolen from Pineapple House, according to the police report. All
stolen items were under the Vera Bradley brand. Milford investigators are
working with police in South Lyon, Davison, Dexter, Saline and as far west as
Kalamazoo on other incidents involving thefts of designer handbags, wallets and
purses in those locations. Organized retail fraud, a five-year felony, has to do
with operating a business with the purpose of stealing items and reselling them.
Police reports indicated that Pochmara kept a journal with notes on the
merchandise she had. She may have sold the stolen items on Craigslist.com and
eBay, would return some to retail locations for cash or store credit and would
even sell them at discounted prices to acquaintances. In South Lyon, a similar
incident was reported Jan. 31 at the Grand Trunke Home shop. Nine hipster purses
and four wallets were stolen from the boutique on Pontiac Trail. Police are also
investigating a Hallmark in Davison that was hit around the time of the previous
thefts. (Source

Shipping container stolen from Safeway in Honolulu Honolulu
police are looking for the person who stole a Matson shipping container from the
Safeway store on Beretania Street. It happened on Sunday, March 16. Surveillance
video caught the thief in action. At 4:06 a.m. the thief drove to the back of
the Safeway Beretania parking lot, where the loading docks are located. After a
couple of minutes, he backed up his tractor, hooked it up to the chassis, and
then drove off with the container at 4:11 a.m. KHON2 asked Hawaii Transportation
Association’s Managing Director Gareth Sakakida: “How common is something like
this here in Hawaii?” Sakakida replied: “Not common in Hawaii at all. But on the
mainland, stealing trailers, hijacking whole tractor trailer combination, it
does happen and quite a lot.” (Source
