Creepy bionic mannequins are watching you shop. Fashion brands think that mannequin cyborgs make perfect sense: if online stores are able to learn all about you when you shop online, why shouldn't a fake human dummy be able to fix its vacant stare on you and then surreptitiously adjust window displays, store layouts, and promotions accordingly? Max Catanese, chief executive officer of the 40-year-old mannequin maker, declined to name clients, citing confidentiality agreements. Five companies, including leading fashion brands, are using a total of "a few dozen" of the mannequins with orders for at least that many more, he says. The cost of the high tech mannequins... $5000. Parental Escort Policy in effect at Mall of America for Black Friday. The Mall of America is tightening its parental escort policy for some of the busiest parts of the holiday shopping season. Mall spokesman Dan Jasper says unsupervised teenagers won't be allowed on Thanksgiving night, all day on Black Friday and the entire week between Christmas and New Year's. It stems from last year's melee the day after Christmas, when police say as many as 200 young people were involved and at least nine were arrested. The Bloomington megamall's longstanding policy says unaccompanied teens 16 or younger are not allowed without an adult escort 21 or older on Fridays and Saturdays, from 6 p.m. until closing. More than 180 Mall of America stores will open at midnight on Friday. A record 219,000 shoppers visited the mall the day after last Thanksgiving. (Source today.com)

Alexandria Jewelry Store captures two suspects on tape in Smash and Grab. The two suspects were able to get out of the store with three Rolex watches totaling $37,000. It appears that the one suspect had a difficult time breaking the display giving employees in the store time to react and chase the suspects from the store. Police are still looking to identify the suspects. (Source myfoxdc.com)

A key to a Walmart showcase, two big men, make thousands of dollars in cameras disappear. Two overweight shoplifters at a Wal-Mart in Oklahoma were able to shoplift thousands of dollars worth of cameras by hiding the electronics in the rolls of fat on their bodies. The clever thieves apparently collected a cart-full of cameras; they went to an area of the store where security cameras couldn't watch them, took items out of packages, and then headed toward the checkout line. They walked through the checkout line and paid cashiers for a few, smaller items. The rest of the merchandise was hidden on their person. (Source kfor.com)

With Home Depot's recent internal promotion for their Director of Asset Protection it brings the number of internal promotions for 2012 for Senior level loss prevention positions to nine. 2012 has probably been the most active year in recent history for senior level internal promotions. While it's fantastic to see so many internal executives being promoted, on the flip side it stops the domino theory that would normally create more senior level openings. Congratulations to all of these executives.

Vans in Los Angeles is still looking for their Director of Loss Prevention.

We at the Daily would like to wish you, your team and your family a very happy Thanksgiving, and we hope you all have a safe and profitable Black Friday. See you Monday!

The Three L's of Leadership: Love, Listen and Leap During times of knee-buckling, gut-wrenching change, like the recent Super-Storm, Hurricane Sandy, that devastated significant parts of the eastern seaboard, we receive a collective wake-up call about what is most fundamental and enduring in our lives. In times of crisis, we feel called to lead, to remind others and ourselves what is important. (Essential life principles)

Resilience: What You Can Learn from a High School Quarterback When I look for lessons in leadership, 17-year-old high school quarterbacks are typically not high on my list. That is because until now I have not been paying attention to the young man who lives across the street from me. (Wise words)
Overcoming Fear: The 3 Step Process Can you name the biggest impediment to innovation? One of our Fishbowl “Captains” – John Erickson– hit the nail on the head in a team discussion this week. The culprit is fear. Only 3% of employees consider themselves “fearless.” Is it any wonder their innovation is gone? (What makes you afraid?)

Don't Innovate. Create a Culture of Innovation While many organizations focus on addressing problems, the most successful focus on raising the bar. One of the ways they do this is by creating a culture where innovation thrives. When this organizational strength is magnified, it can become a source of competitive advantage. (4 Things)

Transitioning to a new position, a new job, a new market is a great opportunity to reinvent yourself and your brand so to speak. It gives you the perfect chance to look at yourself and say how can I improve and be truly what I want to be. It erases your blackboard and allows you the chance to write something new, something you've always wanted to be. A move, often times referred to as a geographical cure, can be just the medicine to help start a new you.

Just a Thought,
