A Better (& Cheaper) Way to Motivate Employees There is nothing more powerful in motivating a company's people than a mission that they believe in passionately. But when it comes to getting people to do the right things every day, a compelling mission can only go so far. Beyond that, I have found there are four things that will really help to turn that passion into effective action. (4 is a must)

To Do Today: Eat Lunch With a Colleague Companies are slow to recognize the idea that much creativity occurs informally: not in meetings, on time, according to agendas, but at those moments when our brains relax and are free to wander. Day dreaming is strongly associated with creativity but, in order for our minds to dream, we need less structured, narrow environments. (Dig in!)

The Five Hallmarks of Highly Respected Achievers What describes highly driven, achievement-oriented people who are also highly respected? The intersection between drive and respect is an important one, because we all know people who are highly driven but think nothing of running others over along the way. And, we know examples of people who are respected but stagnant. (Just a taste)

Inside the Mind of a Great Manager Since each of us has had good and bad managers, it’s tempting to wonder if there’s a brain-based distinction between them. At times we've worked with managers so appallingly unfit for their role that its seemed like there just had to be something missing upstairs — some crucial component that these people just didn’t have. (What's going on?)

3VR - video surveillance, video intelligence

Surveys show that happiness at work significantly improves performance and productivity. It translates into higher energy levels, better reviews, faster promotions, higher wages, better health and overall a better environment. While it shouldn't be surprising it often times needs to be remembered. When fellow executives are unhappy for long periods or with their co-workers it needs to be addressed because productivity and overall team health will suffer. Attitudes are contagious and happier teams produce more and have better results. Is your team happy?

Just a Thought,
Gus Downing
