Mug shot websites take advantage of the guilty
. Websites such as bustedmugshots.com are a place where criminal mug shots can be published legally. The only downside is that if your mug shot is on there, it will pop up in a quick Google search for your name. If they want the photo removed, they have to pay a steep fee, making some people unable to get rid of that part of their past.  (Source reuters.com)

How to Find the Best Employees High unemployment has saturated the job market with applicants so it's harder than ever for employers to weed out top candidates. Filtering out unqualified candidates can be a huge task. A lot of qualified candidates are looking for jobs these days. Here's how to quickly weed out those who don't -- and won't -- fit what you need. (Top contenders)

The Real Reason to Check References It's every manager's worst nightmare: You hire someone who looks smart on paper and seems fine in the interview, who then turns out to be a disaster. And not just a run-of-the-mill disaster. As recent incidents in Aurora, Colorado, and New York City have shown, it's possible for heinous acts to be committed by people who, outwardly at least, appear perfectly well adjusted. (A taboo subject)
9 Secrets of Highly Successful Hiring When you're hiring, you're growing. That means business is good. It's easy to let that euphoria go to your head and, in a rush of enthusiasm, hire great people who, nevertheless, could be wrong for the job, or your business. Margaret Heffernan has hired hundreds of people, and fired a few too. Here are the best recruiting insights she's learned. (No selling)

10 Things Not to Do When Interviewing (and 4 Bonus Tips) Many people have heard of interview do's and don'ts when you're the candidate hoping to be hired by a company. But what about interview do's and don'ts for the person interviewing that candidate? This article includes some "don'ts" to keep in mind the next time you hold interviews for an open position. (Read the additional mistakes!)

3VR - video surveillance, video intelligence

In preparing for any interview or meeting, I would suggest that, not only do you educate yourself about the potential employer, but that you study their competitor as well, because not only do these executives know their business, the good ones will know their competitors business even better. And if you show them you've taken the time to really learn their business and the number one thing that impacts them beyond the customer which is their competitor, then they'll be impressed that you went to that effort. And at the end of the day you'll learn an entire channel of trade.

Just a Thought,
Gus Downing
