Apple is cracking down on anything fake in New York City this past weekend by executing several seizure warrants and removing fake goods that carry the Apple logo or name from stores.  They've even asked a Judge to force one store called "Apple Story" to change their name to avoid confusion with Apple's retail chain.  (Source

Anthony Cuti, the former CEO of Duane Read drug stores, was sentenced to 3 years in prison for exaggerating the chain's income and was also fined $5 million.  Prosecutors said he reported inflated income from fraudulent real estate transactions and made it appear that expenses were decreasing from 2000 to 2005 to inflate income.  (Source

Facebook, Twitter and RIM's Blackberry Messenger have been called to meet Britain's Home Office ministers this Thursday to discuss their products' usage in the UK riots.  Only Facebook has confirmed their attendance and said, "We look forward to meeting with the home secretary to explain the measures we have been taking to ensure that Facebook is a safe and positive platform for people in the UK at this challenging time."  (Source

Production and labor costs are expected to rise 10% to 20% in the second half of the year and the retailers are going to "mask the price hikes – for instance, jacking them up more than needed so that they can offer a sale on the higher price."  "Let the consumer trickery begin," said Brian Sozzi, Wall Street Strategies retail analyst."  Great article about how retailers and manufacturers are dealing with this global issue and the only concern is how the consumer is going to react.  The fourth quarter is going to be interesting and everyone is holding their breath.  (Source

The trend of employees using their personal devices at work is increasing and having an impact both positively and negatively as well as opening doors for attacks and leaks that were never there before.  Here's a study and report by Trend Micro that deals with this "consumerization and mobilization" of our enterprise which is an unstoppable movement that we all must be prepared for and deal with.  "The Consumerization of Enterprise Mobility"

A new survey shows that U.S. workers will only see a modest 2.8% increase in pay in 2012 after seeing only 2.6% increases in both 2009 and 2010.  Corporate America is still tight and keeping pay raises low will not help the economy nor the consumer.  Prior to the recession from 2000 to 2006, raises had averaged 3.9%.   (Source Associated Press)

Speed Kills!  As the old expression goes, so does the pace of today's world.  With technology leashing us forward and mobile coming at the speed of light, no one can slow down.  The problem then becomes focus and concentration.  Multitasking, while impossible to avoid, leads to a reduction in quality and quality is what every senior executive must be focused on.  So the next time you're running fast, just take one second and think about was the service you just delivered quality service.

Just a Thought as I speed thru this Daily
