Lowe's, which has declared a cash dividend each quarter since going public in 1961, had raised its dividend by 27 percent in May. Last week, the retailer reported weaker-than-expected quarterly sales and cut its fiscal-year outlook for the second time in three months as homeowners put off big renovations in an anemic economy. 'Gray Market' Drugs with markup of 650%
Health Care Providers face a massive drug shortage, which has led to price gouging on some medications needed to treat critically-ill patients. In response, doctors and hospitals are getting offers from what is called the "gray market" to obtain necessary medications, which experts say are a major health risk to hospitals and patients alike. Prescriptions manufactured in Mexico, China and India, are likely not meeting FDA standards. (Source: foxbusiness.com)

Verizon employees return to work without a contract
Nearly 45,000 employees went on strike on Aug. 7 after their previous contract had expired. The employees primarily work in the company's landline division in nine states from Massachusetts to Virginia. The company has proposed freezing its pension and switching union workers to its non-union health plan, which has higher costs for employees. Verizon has 196,000 workers, with 135,000 of those non-union. The wireless division, which wasn't affected by the strike, is mostly non-union. (Source: canadianbusiness.com)

eBay Investigators Support Inquiry into Social Benefits Fraud Leads to Jail Sentences

eBay Global Asset Protection investigators assisted Department of Work & Benefits investigators review eBay trading activity along with PayPal transactions of alleged benefit fraudster couple that leads to jail sentences for both. Over 3 ½ years, the man and his wife claimed £105,955 in benefits while at the same time driving his company van and carrying out work for neighbors. The suspect turned up at court in a wheelchair, wearing a neck brace, and his arm was in a sling, but Judge Neil Stewart condemned the 50-year-old's actions and jailed him for 13 months. He told him: 'This was large-scale fraud committed over a number or years. It was brazen the way you went about your work. 'There is nothing reprehensible about working. What is reprehensible is that you claimed benefits while doing it. You took advantage of the system and defrauded the public.' Click here for full article.

As part of the organizations' partnership, CAP Index will conduct several surveys of NFSSC's membership, as well as provide and analyze industry-related research.

NFSSC executives announced the news from the floor of the 32nd Annual Conference, currently being held in Palm Springs, CA. "With CAP Index's expertise, we are taking an extra step forward, keeping our member locations as safe and secure as possible for employees and customers alike."

In commenting on CAP Index's partnership with NFSSC, Jon Groussman, President and COO of CAP Index, said, "CAP Index has enjoyed a long and healthy relationship with NFSSC members, offering loss prevention and crime mapping tools since CAP's inception in 1988. As NFSSC's official research partner, we look forward to conducting industry-specific research and providing actionable intelligence integral to the safety and security of restaurant and QSR chains nationwide."

No matter what you do, there's always two sides in every stadium, both supported by their beliefs, convictions and opinions and both equally opposed in their desire to win.  While winning is everyone's objective, how you play the game is in actuality more important.  Regardless of how the other side plays, one must always remember that afterwards regardless of the win or loss everyone respects the one who played like a professional and gave it their best.
