eBay partners with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to launch "You can't Fake Fashion" campaign.  Part of the campaign includes totes customized by 50 designers with the tagline "You can't Fake Fashion" and sold exclusively at eBay Fashio Vault with proceeds benefiting the CFDA Foundation Inc.  "We hope broader awareness will help fight counterfeits and the harm they cause, and eBay is proud to partner with CFDA on this thought-provoking campaign," said Alan Marks, eBay’s SVP global communications. "Counterfeits not only are illegal, they also damage brand owners, frustrate shoppers and undermine consumer confidence. eBay invests substantial resources to help provide millions of consumers a trusted, confident marketplace experience when shopping for authentic new, used and vintage merchandise, and this campaign is another example of our commitment to being a leading industry voice in the fight against counterfeits."  (Source retailingtoday.com)

With shoplifters becoming increasingly savvy, the next generation of anti-theft devices are coming to market -- from radiofrequency identification, or "smart tagging" where smart chips can identify what - when - where retailers are losing merchandise, to "booster bag" sensors that activate the moment the metallic bag enters the stores, to door sensors linked to digitally accurate moveable video cameras that can target the triggered "booster bag" alert and to eye-level video monitors on shelves near high-theft items.   (Source orlandosentinel.com)

One flier for an auction scheduled in a hotel leads to the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs canceling the auction and issuing two citations to the auction company for not having books and records available for inspection as required by state law to obviously authenticate the "signed lithographs and etchings" by Picasso, Chagall, Miro, Dali, Warhol and others.  The company behind it, Tenafly, operates auctions around the country under more than a dozen names and has a long history of violations in other states, while the record-keeping statutes are archaic and don't provide any protection for consumers if, in fact, they are selling fakes.  (Source northjersey.com)

As many of us speed through our days and work hard to accomplish our objectives, oftentimes the one thing that suffers is our active listening skills. These skills are important if we expect to truly change behavior or direction as quickly as today's pace requires. Active listening is difficult for some and requires an individual to hear things they may not be open to hearing or just hearing things that aren't said because oftentimes it isn't what's said that's important, it's what isn't said that can mean the most. Hearing that usually takes place upon reflection because most of us aren't intellectually fast enough to respond instantaneously. Active listening is a tool and a skill that can help an executive every day. It merely requires the thought and the practice.

Good Luck
