FBI sting nabs about 24 alleged online credit card scammers. Two dozen people were arrested around the globe on Tuesday in what authorities are calling a "breathtaking spectrum of cyber schemes and scams" that involved buying and selling bank card details, stolen identities, counterfeit documents, and sophisticated hacking tools on an FBI undercover forum. Among those arrested is a purported member of the noisy hacking group UGNazi, which has claimed responsibility for various recent hacks including last week’s outage on Twitter. The two-year investigation, dubbed "Operation Card Shop," began in June 2010 when the FBI set up an online carding forum called Carder Profit. The FBI monitored and recorded communications on the forum as well as private messages sent through the site between registered users. The FBI also recorded IP addresses of users who accessed the forum. The operation resulted in arrests of 11 individuals in the U.S. and 13 people abroad as well as the execution of more than 30 search warrants. (source washingtonpost.com)

Divisional VP Loss Prevention for Coach

On June 26 several subjects were arrested after they used a sledge hammer to break into the Coach store in Carmel, California
.
The subjects were in possession of over $10,000 of Coach items that they had stored in plastic totes. The subjects are from the Fresno, California area. This is the second time that we have had subjects breaking into a Coach store that were later arrested and were from the Fresno, California area. The previous break-in was in Modesto, California (Vintage Faire Mall) on February 21.

We think this group are major players and may be linked to other break-ins in Northern California and would like to get the word out. People can contact Dan Hafford via email dhafford@coach.com and will be directed to the appropriate law enforcement agency to see if there are any connections.

Wire cutters found on shoplifter gets her one year in prison. Twenty-three-year-old Reethal German used the wire cutters to defeat (well I guess that didn’t really work) the EAS sensor tags, and concealed $647 worth of merchandise from Abercrombie and Fitch in Woodbury’s Deptford Mall. German also sprayed the Loss Prevention Agent with pepper spray at the time of her stop. Now prosecutors are pushing for a one year prison sentence. (source courierpostonline.com)

Video: Armed robbery at WalgreensWalgreen’s armed robbery in St. Petersburg caught on tape. Police are searching for two men suspected of robbing a Walgreens pharmacy early Tuesday. They first approached the store at 3:18 a.m. but retreated when a van entered the parking lot, police said. After retreating from the building several times, they entered at 3:24 a.m. Once inside, one of the men jumped across the counter and began shuffling through the shelves. The other man accosted three of the store clerks. Police said one the suspects had a gun, but did not specify which. The men forced the employees to remove the cash drawers from the register before taking off on foot. (source wtsp.com)

Supervisor and a former employee charged in a fake-robbery scheme at Cosi. The men barely had time to get their stories straight before an off-duty officer who was in the mall responded to the robbery call on the radio. Upon questioning the supervisor of the Cosi restaurant the officer knew something was wrong. Later the supervisor admitted that he and a fellow past employee made up the robbery story in an attempt to steal $2,000. Now both men face third degree larceny charges. (source patch.com)

Working For a Workaholic -- When You're Not One We all have addictions. For some it's shoes, Groupon, or Reese's Pieces. For most of your past, present, and future bosses, it's work. While this type of boss may make your life more stressful, why? Having a workaholic boss is the fastest way to advance in your career and enhance your personal life -- if you can survive.  (Leave your anxiety behind)

Hit Your Anxiety Sweet Spot Stress is bad. It can raise your blood pressure, upset your stomach, induce insomnia, and cause you to choke in high-pressure situations. So avoid it at all costs, right? Wrong. Research shows that moderate amounts of stress actually boost performance. "Somewhere between checked out and freaked out lies an anxiety sweet spot."  (Find a healthy balance)

Dealing With Anxiety: What's Normal and What's Not Short-lived episodes or worry are completely normal and actually productive, but if your anxiety last beyond those stressful moments and seeps in to everyday situations, it can be a problem. Too much anxiety can affect your relationships, your work, and even your health. Here's what to do if you see your anxiety getting out of control. (Relax)

6 Unexpected Ways to Make Someone's Day Smiles are nice. Cards are nice. Gifts are nice. All the "standards" are nice -- and all, at least for the most part, are somewhat expected. If you really want to make someone's day, whether it be co-worker, employee, boss or stranger, do the unexpected. It's not hard. Little things truly can go the longest way. All it takes is a tiny bit of thought and a little effort.  (Impress them all)

Tip of the Day - Sponsored by Vector Security

Are you going beyond your job appraisal? Every year, executives face that one moment in time when corporate America tells you how you've done and most live within its boundaries all year long. Exceeding at your job is, by definition, going beyond it and the only way to move up is by doing just that. With increased job scopes and responsibilities, it may seem almost impossible to do. But for those who believe anything is possible, are you going beyond?

Just a thought,
Gus Downing
