Marine underwriters said the Federal Bureau of Investigation has failed in its efforts to collect data on cargo theft and offered suggestions to improve information gathering from law enforcement agencies and private industry. Although the FBI is mandated to collect cargo theft data, state and local law enforcement agencies are not now required to report cargo theft incidents to the national Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program. The marine associations stressed that cargo crime simply cannot be a subset of UCR reports, but must be a standalone category to ensure accuracy and effectively determine the most productive allocation of manpower and equipment to combat it. Fraud Suspect Arrested; $200,000 Worth of Stolen Goods Recovered. Investigators were able to trace the items, collectively valued at approximately $200,000, back to the chain store. Of that amount, $40,000 worth of the unopened merchandise will be able to be returned to the store for sale, one of the largest recoveries of stolen merchandise the chain store has been able to recoup. The suspect, identified as Juan Carlos Estrada, was arrested for receiving stolen property and is being held at Long Beach City Jail. Various suspects were involved in committing the thefts and fraudulent purchases of the merchandise by using stolen credit cards. The suspects would then sell the items to suspect Estrada, who would resell them for a profit. The suspects who provided the stolen property are still outstanding. Although the investigation is ongoing, so far detectives have been able to determine that the suspect received in excess of $353,000 from the sale of these stolen items in the past three years. 8 Winning Ways to Perform Workplace Wonders What is your attitude when you are at work? Are you excited about the workplace culture and the people that surround you? Today's workplace is changing, forcing employees to change with it. Most organizations just expect their employees to go with the flow but this makes it difficult to retain and recruit top talent.  (Influence high-performance)

6 Ways to Make More Money by Making Employees Happy Typically, somewhere during the first four to six months the eagerness and desire of most employees wane. Enter appreciation. Letting your employees know that they matter is how you bridge the gap between your differing expectations. Increased employee value equals increased company value. (Set them up for success)
How to Create a Positive Learning Culture Face it: You don't know everything. So at the individual level, you should make a lifelong commitment to exploring new horizons. Here are three suggestions for creating a genuine learning culture at work.  (Check the bonus: quick tips!)

7-Step Approach to Giving Feedback Managers regularly provide feedback to their employees, but bosses aren't the only ones who can use this important skill. Tip of the Day - Sponsored by Vector Security

Managing your career upwards requires a vision of where you want to go and how you're going to get there. Other than personal performance, one of the primary factors is who you know and how you develop those relationships. Everything you read talks about managing relationships around you in your current role, but the real key is the relationships you have outside your role or your company and not just in the LP community but with successful operators outside your current scope. If you expect to truly excel in your career, you've got to expand your contacts and develop them as you would the operator beside you. Obviously, this can be difficult and slow to progress. But give it some thought and set some goals of meeting new executives and expanding your circle. Because one person, one contact, can make a difference and you never know who that might be.

Just a thought,
