Under a new state law, this type of crime is being recognized as more than just shoplifting and it's under this law that the ringleader from Center Township is being prosecuted. ORC is a $12 billion a year problem. Thieves are stealing some of the most popular brands on the market, Tide, Tylenol, even Crest White Strips. A new report found that 96% of stores nationwide say they've been a victim of organized retail theft. (source

Rancho Cucamonga, CA – June 18, 2012 –Universal Surveillance Systems LLC (USS), the largest privately held manufacturer of loss prevention technology in the United States, has promoted Rod Holm to Senior Vice President of Global Business Development.

Holm, who was formerly USS Vice President of Sales, will assume the position of Senior Vice President of Global Business Development. In this newly created position, Holm will oversee all aspects of customer relations nationally and internationally and be responsible for strategic partnerships with the FBI, Homeland Security, ICE and other law enforcement organizations and agencies to expand USS’ programs to educate and equip the loss prevention industry in combatting organized retail crime (ORC).

"The growth of USS and our focus on customer service required the expansion of our executive team to meet the expectations of our partners and the industry," said Adel Sayegh, USS President and CEO. "Last year was a record year for us in growth and it became necessary to expand our executive team as we continue to make large strides and revolutionary developments in the LP world."

The USS Scorpion HD—
Stops Thieves Before They Leave the Store

Universal Surveillance Systems, LLC, is proud to announce the unveiling of the Scorpion HD, the most revolutionary LP system in decades, at the NRF Conference this year in Booth 1101.

Stop thieves right at the check stand. This amazing product detects hidden EAS-tagged merchandise, whether concealed in boxes or between other merchandise. Until now, stolen merchandise could not be electronically detected until the store exit, allowing many thieves an easy escape.

"The Scorpion HD is the most significant loss prevention innovation in years," said Adel Sayegh, President and CEO of USS. "This silent apprehender of stolen merchandise is the critical solution that our partners have been asking for. Current methods to find concealed merchandise can be intrusive to customers and create a liability in delivering excellent customer service. We successfully engineered a solution that allows retailers to keep customers happy while stopping thieves hiding merchandise in and between other items."

Come visit us at Booth 1101 to see first-hand how this silent warrior can protect your store from ORC thieves.

Tip of the Day - Sponsored by Vector Security

Being too close to the trees to see the forest is an expression that also fits not appreciating the role you play on your own team. With the needs of the day seemingly always taking priority, it's difficult for some to step back and truly see the value you can add to your own team. Realizing it and accepting the responsibility as a team member is half the battle. But doing something with it and truly adding value is what helps the team win the game. Every group, every department is in fact a team and every member plays a vital role towards the success and the survival of that team. That's why that old expression - One for all and all for one - took such a hold in literature. Because it is that simple. The hard part is taking responsibility for it.
