There are more senior LP positions available in the U.S. presently then there have been in quite some time, with over 11 open right now.

Target investigators in conjunction with detectives from the Clay County Sherriff's office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement busted an ORC fencing operation in Clay County Florida and made one arrest and are looking for another female suspect.  Detectives believe the two women provided shopping lists to professional shoplifters who would, in turn, steal the listed items from local retail stores.  (Source news4jax.com)

Another ORC gang of four was arrested in Linden, NJ, last week after, again, Target stores investigators identified four suspects who were stealing electronic items from stores in the region.  (Source njtoday.net)

Dish Network won the Blockbuster auction for about $320 million which will allow them to tap the movie rental chain's online content to strengthen its offerings.  "Blockbuster will complement our existing video offerings while presenting cross-marketing and service extension opportunities for Dish Network," said Tom Cullen, executive vice president of sales, marketing and programming for Dish Network.  Stay tuned for how it impacts their physical stores.  (Source Associated Press)

A&P is suing Stop & Shop for hiring the former "second highest ranking operations executive at the company" vice president of operations Frank Vitale.  A&P claims Vitale took with him "physical copies of what A&P termed its most sensitive information including list of stores on its closure watch list, sales information, and details of A&P's plans to compete and its restructuring strategy."  He resigned on Feb. 14th and began working at Stop & Shop on Feb. 21st.  His having participated in the long-term incentive program for select AS&P employees forbade him from working for a competitor for 18 months.  Efforts to settle out of court were unsuccessful prompting the suit.  Removing sensitive company information is a serious situation and one that in today's competitive environment will be pursued legally.  We merely need to look at both Wal-Mart and Target for recent examples, this year alone, of how companies are dealing with such matters.  Every company, regardless of size, can be severely impacted by executives taking and removing intellectual property.  (Source supermarketnews.com)

"The Retail Industry Leaders Association and CargoNet, Jersey City, NJ, a Division of Verisk Analytics' ISO Crime Analytics unit, announced the establishment of an exclusive strategic alliance with the goal of combating the growing problem of cargo theft across the retail industry."  (Source supermarketnews.com)

The National Retail Federation has updated its three-year-old emergency response guidelines for “active shooters” -- individuals actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area.  (Source supermarketnews.com)

New survey by YouGov showed one fifth of online shoppers in the UK who've made a purchase online have been a victim of online fraud, with 54% saying they've actually abandoned an online purchase due to fears relating to the security of their details.  (Source theretailbulletin.com)
