"Operation Chimney Sweep" in Los Angeles recovers $4 million in counterfeit goods and 10 people are arrested in a holiday season crackdown on piracy.  The largest bust in LA's history was led by the Los Angeles Anti-Piracy Task Force.  (Source Associated Press)

ShopperTrak reports shoppers spent $18.83 billion the Dec 17-19 weekend, up 5.5% over last year, which was a great increase over last year's big east coast snow storm that caused a 6.2% drop.  (Source Associated Press)

New York's attorney general is suing accounting giant Ernst & Young, accusing it of helping defunct investment bank Lehman Brothers hide billions of dollars in debt from investors even as it teetered on the brink of financial collapse.  (Source Associated Press)

!!!National Labor Relations Board
announced Tuesday a proposed new rule requiring most private employers to post notices in employee break rooms or other prominent locations to explain workers' rights to bargain collectively, distribute union literature or engage in other union activities without reprisal.  A major development for the Unions who are trying to reverse years of membership declines where just 7.2% of employees belong to unions.  The rule will not take effect for at least 60 days during which the agency is taking comments.  (Source Associated Press)

Ohio State Highway Patrol reports there is an "alarming increase" in the number of identity theft cases which has increased over 100% since 2009.  (Source wkyc.com)

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement uncovered a sophisticated identity theft/credit card operation in Clearwater where one 58-year-old man, Idalberto Fleites-Cepro in Town N Country, Florida, stole people's credit card info and then made credit cards for himself with his name and their card numbers.

Bed Bath & Beyond 3Q reports same store sales up 7% with revenue up 11%
Finish Line 3Q reports same store sales up 4.5% and revenue up 9%
Walgreen 1Q reports same store sales up 0.8% with revenue up 6%

New York Safety State investigators may shut down the most expensive and the most accident prone Broadway musical play in history ($65 million), "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" after the fourth accident when a stuntman playing the superhero fell into the stage pit after the safety clips failed.  Still in its preview stage, the State investigators must approve the new safety protocols or they won't be allowed to perform the complicated aerial maneuvers.  The musical could be in jeopardy if those aerial actions aren't allowed.  There's a $65 million loss because of safety issues.  Wonder if they had a safety engineer involved in the design and production?  (Source Associated Press)

The publisher of the smash hit video game Call of Duty fires two executives last year, gets sued by them in March for $36 million claiming the publisher did it to avoid paying royalties, and now the publisher sues their new employer, Respawn Entertainment, saying Respawn lured them away despite their having two years left on their contract.  Even in the game business, it's all about the money!  By the way Activision, the publisher of Call to Duty, values its claim at $400 million.   (Source kmtr.com)

Active Shooter in Knoxville, Tenn., where a man, carrying two guns fired at passing vehicles after attacking a woman at an ATM machine outside a credit union in Knoxville.  He was shot by police.  (Source Associated Press)
