PayPal Recognized for Safety & Security for Consumers

Just how safe is the online payment system PayPal? More than 153 million people worldwide use it for online purchases and sales. If you're one of them, you know that the service is hugely convenient. But does it offer the same protections as a credit card? The answer is a qualified yes. PayPal has powerful fraud and consumer protections in place. "In a recent PayPal transaction, I signed in from a location where I don't usually do business," says Robert Siciliano, identity theft expert and consultant with McAfee. "They required me to receive a phone call and respond to prompts. That was an extra layer of protection my bank doesn't provide." "PayPal covers consumers when they don't receive an item or when the item is significantly different than the merchant described," says Wendy Roberts, who works on consumer protections for PayPal. "PayPal customers are not liable for fraudulent charges to their PayPal accounts." Until recently, customer protections extended only to eBay users (eBay is PayPal's parent company). As of Nov. 1, 2010, they apply to everyone. Click here for full article.

Jim's Daily Challenge...

As I start my day, I challenge myself to be a better leader than I was the prior day, to communicate more effectively than I have in the past, to be wise to those who seek my counsel and to show my team competitive greatness each and every day." Finally, I try to live by a John Wooden mantra; Be quick, but don't hurry! As he says in his book, "If you hurry, you're more likely to make mistakes; but if you're not quick, you won't get things done." "It's like a surgeon who comes upon things that are unexpected. If he isn't capable of responding quickly, he may lose the patient." How appropriate as we lead our teams through very difficult and trying times!

Over the years, we've heard a number of CEO's at failing companies remark that the #1 cause for the company's demise, other than competition, was the acceptance of substandard performance on the part of the employee population.  A tough comment to make and a difficult thing to change.  Motivating and developing your team should be a priority for every executive at every level.  The real challenge becomes how do you modify substandard performance and when do you draw the line.  Every leader is measured by the success or failure of their team and every leader has a responsibility to maximize performance.  If a team member is failing, a leader has to call it out for the good of the team and the company.  And at the end of the day, it may be the best thing for that team member as well.

Just a Thought
