Starting April 1, 2011, manufacturers will use "reason code 36" in communications with retailers to indicate that reimbursement payment is being denied for coupons that have been identified as counterfeit.  The Joint Industry Coupon Committee (JICC), which includes representatives from several industry trade groups, endorses the use of reason code 36, and believes that it is imperative for all parties involved in the couponing process to take action against counterfeit coupons and coupon fraud.   This is a first for calling it out at the register specifically which requires a number of procedural and proactive measures to be installed at the store level.  (Source

eBay PROACT Teams Partnership with Retailer Leads to 10 Year Sentence

eBay Asset Protection PROACT investigation team supported partner CVS in the investigation of significant retail theft and sale of stolen property of the eBay marketplace site. Based on coordinated efforts, the West Hartford Police arrested Dana Giacobini of Waterbury, CT on shoplifting charges from local retail stores. Police were able to obtain a search warrant for an apartment of interest with information obtained via both eBay investigators and retail field investigators. During the search warrant execution, police recovered greater than $25,000 worth of allegedly stolen health and beauty goods. The collaborative investigation began back in the summer of 2009 and at a recent sentencing hearing Giacobini received a sentence of 10 years in prison. "They were fairly routine calls," said Sgt. Frank Fallon, but each provided information that led officers to investigate further. Working closely with CVS Loss Prevention, they developed information that she was selling stolen goods on eBay. "EBay has been fantastic to deal with," he said.  Click for full article.

A career is a long-term investment that should have two objectives.  The first one should obviously be to go as far as you can while satisfying and fulfilling your personal goals.  The second is to make as much as you can.  With that in mind, one should consider what a strategic move could mean long term insofar as base salary, bonuses and stock is concerned.  A couple of strategic moves can double your lifetime earnings.  And that's serious retirement funds.

Good Luck
