In 2009, the average company lost nearly 5% of its revenue to fraud by employees according to the 2010 Report to Nations on Occupational Fraud & Abuse with 90% of the incidents being Asset Fraud- stealing company resources- and averaging $135,000 per company.  Financial fraud, which only makes up 5% of all cases of corporate fraud, averaged $4 million according to the Association of Fraud Examiners (CFE) and companies should be using the same technologies that authenticate external customers to monitor employees and watch for inside attacks.  (Source darkreading.com)

There are literally thousands of online fraudulent pharmacies purporting to be a "Canadian pharmacy" and offering Canada's drugs to Americans, but in reality there are only approximately 100 that can be verified as licensed Canadian pharmacies online. These other companies usually market their services via spam and masquerade as a genuine Canada pharmacy. They often display fake third-party accreditation marks and bogus pharmacy licenses.  (Source prweb.com)

Oracle Corp. and archrival SAP AG will argue in an Oakland court over how much SAP should pay for a subsidiary that stole Oracle customer-support documents from password-protected Web sites.  SAP has acknowledged the theft, but said it didn't know it was happening until after Oracle sued in 2007. SAP has since shut down the problem subsidiary. The fight now is over the size of damages.  (Source Associated Press)

Retailers who sell the latest "Halo" or "Call of Duty" video game to children would face substantial fines under a law being considered by the Supreme Court.  The justices will hear arguments Tuesday on whether to reinstate a California ban that would make it illegal for retailers to sell or rent violent video games to anyone under the age of 18. Parents could buy the games and give them to their children, but retailers who sold them to minors could face fines up to $1,000.  (Source Associated Press)

The worst question to hear from an employer is "what are your salary expectations?"  The best answer is not to give one.  Most don't do well with this question and tend to shoot for the moon at the beginning and that's exactly the wrong time to even try.  Certainly, the employer is trying to determine if they can afford you, but really they're trying to see how realistic you are and how committed you are to their position.  Going into the interview, you already know their range and if they can afford you so play it smart and wait for an offer before you even think about your number because at the end of the day it's all about how much they want you and how much you want them that drives the right number for both of you.

Good Luck
Gus Downing
