eBay Inc 3RD Quarter Earnings Beats Expectations - Profit Up 23%

eBay Inc. turned in a quarterly profit and revenue that both beat expectations, helped by double-digit growth at PayPal and a modest rise in revenue at the e-commerce company's main marketplaces unit. For the quarter, eBay posted net income of $432 million, or 33 cents per share, up from $350 million, or 27 cents per share, in the same period last year and posted earnings of 40 cents per share, beating out analysts' forecast of 37 cents per share. Total revenue checked in at $2.25 billion for the quarter, just beating out the year-earlier mark of $2.24 billion and analysts had been expecting revenues of $2.18 billion. Revenue in the company's payments division, headlined by PayPal, increased 22 percent year-over-year. "We delivered strong third quarter results, with great performance at PayPal and stable results at eBay," CEO John Donahoe said in a statement. "PayPal gained share globally and eBay continued to improve key metrics. Our company is strong and we are managing our global portfolio to balance strengths, challenges and opportunities, invest in growth and deliver consistent performance." Click here for full article.

There were three incidents yesterday of shoplifters around the country (Augusta GA, Boynton Beach FL, and Nashville TN) where police had to chase the suspects with one car driving thru a Goodyear front glass window, one suspect was shocked by a Taser, and another ran over a mile before being apprehended. Rarely do we see three in the news in one day and certainly means the holiday season is approaching. Stay alert and stay safe!

This is big news and a big win for the Unions which Wal-Mart has avoided for some time. Stay tuned for their reaction. (Source supermarketnews.com)

No matter what you do, there's always two sides in every stadium, both supported by their beliefs, convictions and opinions and both equally opposed in their desire to win.  While winning is everyone's objective, how you play the game is in actuality more important.  Regardless of how the other side plays, one must always remember that afterwards regardless of the win or loss everyone respects the one who played like a professional and gave it their best.

Just a thought
